What a renovation covers

What an elevator cab remodel includes

An elevator interior remodel can address selected worn surfaces or redesign the complete cab. We coordinate each component so the finished elevator cab interior reads as one system.

  • Elevator wall panel replacement

Repair, re-skin, or replace scratched, dented, or peeling panels.

  • Elevator ceiling upgrade

New suspended or coffered systems built around existing equipment.

  • Elevator lighting upgrade

Integrated LED lighting coordinated with the ceiling and finishes.

  • Elevator flooring replacement

Stone, porcelain, or resilient floors selected for weight and traffic.

  • Elevator handrail replacement

Fitted handrails, bumper rails, reveals, and trim in custom metals.

  • Doors and fixture refinishing

Restore wood and architectural metal around doors, fixtures, and trim.

Repair, restore, or renew

Refinish vs. replace your elevator interior

We look for what can be saved before proposing a full replacement. Elevator panel restoration, metal refinishing, and targeted repair can revive sound materials at a lower cost and with less waste. When panels are peeling, walls are dented, or the substrate has failed, we replace only what the condition requires.

That practical restore-versus-replace review is often the best way to make an old elevator look new without paying for work the cab does not need. We also repair vandalized or graffiti-damaged elevator interiors and refinish scratched architectural metal.

Built for daily traffic

Commercial elevator cab renovation

Office buildings, hotels, and mixed-use properties need finishes that tolerate luggage, carts, deliveries, and constant passenger traffic. We pair serviceable panels and durable metals with an installation plan coordinated around building operations.

How it works

A renovation process built for occupied buildings

01

Site survey & measurement

We visit your building, measure the cab and sling, photograph existing conditions, and note code constraints and weight limits.

02

Design & material selection

You review panel layouts, veneers, metals, lighting, and handrail profiles. We produce shop drawings for approval before fabrication.

03

Shop fabrication

Panels, ceilings, and trim are built and pre-finished in our New York workshop — so most of the work happens off site, not in your hoistway.

04

Install with minimal downtime

Pre-finished components go in fast. Most cab interiors are installed in three to five days in the field, and we can push a two-day schedule when the car has to come back sooner.

Budget & access

Elevator cab renovation cost in Manhattan

A full elevator cab renovation in Manhattan — ceiling, lighting, flooring, wall panels, and handrails — typically starts around $25,000. Cab size, existing damage, finish selection, and the final scope determine the renovation quote.

Buildings require a proper Certificate of Insurance (COI) before work begins. We coordinate the documentation and site schedule with management as part of planning the installation.

NYC 2027 brake deadline

Renovate the cab while the car is already out of service

Before January 1, 2027, New York City buildings with single-plunger traction brakes have to add a second plunger or an auxiliary rope gripper. That work happens in the machine room, where no resident, tenant, or buyer will ever see it. The car still comes out of service, and the assessment still gets paid.

Pairing an interior renovation with that shutdown is the cheapest time to do it. Our panels, ceilings, lighting, and flooring are built and pre-finished in our New York workshop, so field work runs three to five days — and we can push a two-day installation when the building needs the car back faster.

Old shells, new materials, and the 5% weight rule

Many pre-war cabs in New York are a century old, with steel shells that have rusted through behind the panels. If you want to move from heavy wood panels to glass or architectural mesh, the cab's deadweight changes — and city code limits how far it can move before the equipment has to be re-rated. We estimate weight and balance up front, build a lighter shell when the new finishes call for one, and hand our numbers to your engineer and elevator company for sign-off before anything is fabricated.
